Nigerian President-elect Ashivaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu returns from a month-long medical trip overseas

Nigerian President-elect Ashivaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed a willingness to start work before the handover date of 29 May. The president-elect returned to Nigeria on Monday evening from a month-long trip in Paris, France. Huge crowds of enthusiastic colleagues and supporters filled the presidential residence at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azique International Airport, where his plane landed.

The president-elect was with his wife, Senator Remy, and their son, Seiya. Among those who met him at the airport were Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Governors Simon Lalong (Highland) and Abubakar Sani-Bello (Niger), and former Borno Governor Ali Modu Cherif. Also at the airport were former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the All Progressives Congress, APC Deputy National Chairman, North, Senator Abubakar Kyari, Deputy National Chairman, South, Barrister Emma Enekwu, and National Woman Leader, Dr. Betta Edu.

There were also Senators Barau Jibril, Adeola Olamilekan Yahyi, Opeyemi Bamidele, Dayo Adeyeye, Sabi Abdullahi and Adelere Oriolowo as well as Secretary of the recently-dissolved Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. James Faleke, Hon. Babajimi Benson and Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Director of media and publicity in the dissolved Presidential Campaign Council.

Speaking to the tumultuous crowd who followed him home, the President-elect said: “I`m happy to be back. I am rested, refreshed and ready for the work ahead. “Forget what the rumor mill may have told you. I am strong, very strong.

When asked about the national plan, he said he plans to assemble and consult a strong team so that he can get right into business as soon as he takes office on May 29. The president-elect took a vacation to Paris on March 21 after a busy campaign and election season.
