Dozens wounded in a bus crash in Johannesburg

South Africa police and transportation department said at least 79 people were injured, five of them seriously, after two buses collided at the entrance to a university in South Africa on Tuesday.

One of the buses is a university vehicle that carries students between the University of Johannesburg campuses, and the other is a city bus.

After the accident one of the bus overturned after hitting the fence at the university entrance.

The other bus appears to have hit the concrete bus stop directly after the collision.

The accident took place about 8 a.m., officials said.

Spokesman for Police Department of Johannesburg’s Metropolitan Xolani Fihla said there was a case of negligent driving which will be open by the police.

Fihla said the cause of the accident is still unknown.

Three students were among those taken to hospital said University of Johannesburg , meanwhile some students with small wounds were treated at the university’s medical center.

The university is also advising those involved in the crash, she said.
