Azali Assoumani, who delivered the opening remarks at the Quad-Party Summit of Heads of State and Government on the Pacification of East Democratic Republic of the Congo, held in Luanda, said the current situation “is a concern of the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo”, regions, continents and the rest of the world”.

“The deteriorating humanitarian and security situation in the DRC territory is destabilizing this country,” Assoumani said, noting that the crisis is all the more worrisome when it occurs in a territory with The economy and people are undeniably rich.

For the interim president of the African Union (AU), instability east of the DRC “could lead all of Africa down a similar path”, thus defending “intensification of joint actions”. and actively to achieve solutions for peace and prosperity”. Congo”. ”

“And to do that, we need appropriate, effective, and innovative political, diplomatic and security solutions to strengthen our strength, avoid duplication and avoid competition among mechanisms. region”, emphasized the Prime Minister.

The need for pacification in eastern Congo, where military tensions continue and where the country opposes Rwanda, is at the heart of this summit between the heads of state and governments of the four blocs. Africa area.

High-level representatives from the South African Development Community (SADC), the East African Community (EAC), the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICRGL) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS)  join this summit in Luanda .

“The strategic goals of this summit are to agree on a common framework and modalities for the implementation and follow-up of initiatives for peace in eastern DR Congo,” said Azali Assoumani, also Nguyen. Comoros’ national chief said.

The African leader reiterated that DRCongo is a country rich in resources, but locals live in extreme poverty, mainly due to conflict, arguing that regional blocs must be agents of peace and stable.

“This is why we must do everything we can to reverse this trend to make DRCongo a source of happiness, not a source of conflict, and this is why we must act as agent of peace, stability and development,” he said.

Azali Assoumani also praised the President of Angola, João Lourenço, and the Angolan diplomatic service for their “persistent efforts, commitment and readiness in serving strong harmony and coordination during the crisis.” security” in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.

For his part, the Chairman of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahammat, stated that the meeting, under the auspices of the body he represents, “is a new proof” of his “unwavering commitment” to ” find “African solutions to African problems”. .

“As I always say, the Great Lakes in Africa are the beating heart at the heart of the continent,” he stressed, referring to the AU’s commitment to contributing to the restoration of peace and security in the region. area.

In his speech, Moussa Faki Mahammat also suggested that the need to coordinate efforts at the level of regional organizations “is much more urgent” for “much greater efficiency and very economical management of resources”.

“This need for coordination is essential, given the context of global and African crises, including the most serious such as the current Sudan crisis, which is also a financial challenge. for us to put political and military initiatives at the forefront,” he concluded.

Burundi, Zimbabwe, Gabon, DR Congo, Rwanda, Comoros, Namibia, representatives of the AU and the United Nations participated in this summit in Luanda, to seek mechanisms for an effective peace in the northern region  of DR Congo.
