U20 World Championships: Nigeria defeated Argentina and Brazil defeated Tunisia

Nigeria made it past the quarter-finals of the current FIFA U-20 World Cup after beating Argentina 2-0 on Wednesday night. Argentina, which topped the group with the maximum number of points, was knocked out of the tournament by the Flying Eagles, who advanced as one of the biggest losers of the group stage.

The Flying Eagles calmed the rowdy crowd a few minutes into the half-time break after a goalless first half. Umeh Emmanuel fought a defender and made a pass to Ibrahim Muhammed on the Argentina line. The winger had an accurate finish, sending the ball past Gomes Gerth into the net to give Nigeria the lead.

Nigeria doubled their lead and advanced to the last eight as Victor Eletu removed the marker before attempting to assist substitute Rilwanu Sarki with a header into the net.

In another match between South America and Africa, Brazil overcame Tunisia to win a place in the quarterfinals.
Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos scored a brace while Marcos Leonardo and Matheus Martins also made their way into the scoreboard as Brazil won a convincing 4-1 despite playing with one man for most of the time of the match.

Nigeria will face the winner of the Gambia vs Uruguay match in the next stage of the tournament.
