Two sweethearts, MPs set to get married.
The two elected members must be married, which is considered a first in Kenya’s parliament.
Mathira’s MP, Erik wa Mumbi, and Muranga’s female representative, Betty Maina, currently live together informally but have decided to make their relationship official. Cupid’s arrow is said to have struck the couple during a grueling election campaign in August 2022.
A wedding is due soon, and the two politicians are preparing to negotiate a ‘bride price’. The Vice President will lead the male delegation, and another member of the House will lead Ms. You will host on behalf of the Maina delegation. Wamombi met Ms. Maina in 2021 and was surprised, saying, “I knew that my wife had everything I wanted.” She Maina also had two children from her previous marriage that ended in divorce.
Despite this, she remains a friend to her ex and she will always be there to protect and support him, she said. Mr. Wah Mumbi had a harder time. He got married in 2015 and has two sons. But tragedy struck when her body was removed from the dam. Her death was mysterious and complicated, and Ms. Wa Mumbi was interrogated during the investigation, but eventually floundered. The couple’s relationship is all the more impressive given the setbacks they’ve experienced in previous relationships.
However, Jeon said both politicians had “pure courage to pursue their goals with ruthless tenacity”. He added that their shared drive and focus make them “a classic example of focus and inspiration.”
