Women’s World Cup: South Africa capitalize on Italian defensive error to secure a win over Italy

South Africa will reach the knockout stages of the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time in history after beating 2019 quarter-finalists Italy 3-2 in Wellington on Wednesday.

South Africa, ranked 2nd in Group D (4 points), will face the Netherlands, which are ranked first in Group E (7 points), in the next round.
