Rapper Stormzy and Zaha acquires hometown football club Croydon Athletic

Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha have teamed up with Rapper Stormzy to buy Croydon Athletic, England’s ninth division side, the club announced on Tuesday.

Zaha was born in Ivory Coast but raised in Croydon from the age of 4, while Grime Stormzy sensation is also from the London borough. The duo have teamed up with former Palace player care manager Danny Young to acquire the club.

“The group will own, operate and develop the hometown football club,” Croydon said in a statement.

“While completion is subject to legislative and administrative procedures, the three members of the consortium are excited to develop a community property in the county that has presented them with their own opportunity. “They hope to take the whole community on this exciting journey with them.”
