Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto in Nairobi on Wednesday. The leaders discussed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the current crisis in Sudan.
Kishida reiterated his country’s desire to strengthen trade ties with Kenya to help bring stability to the region.
“We want to strengthen coordination with Kenya, contributing to the stability of the region. As a country holding the Presidency of the G7,
Japan wishes to directly listen to the voices of African countries and ensure that these voices are reflected in the G7 discussion in Hiroshima this month,” said Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
William Ruto, President of Kenya said: “Prime Minister, I look forward to our discussions and anticipate that we will make significant progress on many issues of mutual concern between Japan and Kenya.”
Kishida said he also wants to hear the voices of African countries in discussions at the G7 summit in Hiroshima later this month.
