Bawumia is a liar for boasting of 2.1m jobs –Sammy Gyamfi

The Communications officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has defined the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as an “unrepentant liar” for claiming that 2.1 million jobs had been created by the Akufo-Addo led government since that 2017.

Mr Gyamfi in a publish on Facebook in reaction to Dr Bawumia`s claims stated unemployment has nearly doubled from 8.4% in 2016 to 14% as of 2021 and observed the comment of the Vice President as a joke.

“Official rate of unemployment has nearly doubled from 8.4% in 2016 to 14% as of 2021, according to GSS. Youth unemployment is at an all-time high.

“Massive job cut have turn out to be the order of the day, because of the economic mismanagement of the Bawumia-led EMT. Yet, our unrepentant liar of a VEEP claims his government has created 2.1 million jobs. What a joke! The name BAWUMIA will occupy a vicinity in the Guinness book of lies.”

Dr Bawumia on Saturday claimed that the Akufo-Addo-led government has created extra sustainable jobs than any administration in Ghana`s history.

Addressing party supporters at Mpraeso after a fitness stroll Saturday morning, Dr Bawumia stated the government has created 2.1 million jobs since 2017.

“During the NDC government, there have been no jobs, they created unemployment, they were not creating jobs, we had the graduate unemployed association, they created unemployment, however I had been searching on the statistics recently and NPP we’ve created 2.1 million jobs.

“975, 000 are in the non-public sector, 1.2 million in the public sector, that is verifiable and identifiable statistics that is available. NPP they created unemployment however we create jobs. We aren’t done yet, there are extra jobs for us to create.

“But on the subject of job creation, no government since independence has created extra jobs than the administration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, each person can challenge me and I will offer the statistics. But we need to do extra, we need to get to the promised land. We may be a Dubai, we can be like South Korea, we can be like Singapore, it’s miles possible.”
